Washington Veterans McElwee and Pemrick Launch Bipartisan Public Policy Firm
Commonwealth Strategic Partners, LLC, to Draw on Partners’ 30 Years Washington Experience
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Washington and Capitol Hill veterans George McElwee and Keith Pemrick today announced the formation of Commonwealth Strategic Partners, LLC, a bipartisan public policy firm headquartered in Washington, D.C.
McElwee and Pemrick have a combined 30 years of experience working in public policy and advocacy in the nation’s capital, including more than 20 combined years on Capitol Hill. McElwee served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Charlie Dent (R-PA) for nine years before leaving Capitol Hill in 2013 to serve as chief lobbyist for the Organization for International Investment. Pemrick worked for Congressman Tim Holden (D-PA) for over 12 years, leaving as Legislative Director in 2012 to join the American Council of Engineering Companies as Director of Environment and Energy Programs.
“Keith and I both share something that’s been largely missing in Washington — an ability to work together to get things done,” McElwee said. “Commonwealth Strategic Partners is in a unique position to break through the proverbial noise and achieve success for our clients. Keith and I have spent our entire careers making an impact in Washington, and that’s what we’ll do for our clients.”
“Commonwealth Strategic Partners brings a unique combination of knowledge, perspective, and a record of success to the public policy arena,” said Pemrick. “George and I understand that relationships and an understanding of the issues matter. That’s what has helped us achieve success during our 30 years working in Washington and it’s what will enable us to help our clients achieve their goals.”
“George is a highly talented professional. His political and policy expertise, coupled with his sound judgement, served me exceptionally well for nine years,” said Congressman Dent, chairman of the House Appropriations Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee. “I was extremely confident in George’s ability, as my chief of staff, to oversee my entire congressional operation. George’s tremendous work-ethic, unwavering loyalty, and exceptional leadership were vital to my work and a great asset to the people of the 15th District.”
Weighing in on his longtime LD’s new venture, former Congressman Holden stated: “Keith was an integral part of my team for a long time. During my tenure as a Democrat in a red district, we faced a lot of critical issues and I took a lot of challenging votes; I relied on Keith to understand the policy and the politics that came with all of them. He’s as resourceful as they come and his many friendships on both sides of the aisle helped him navigate Capitol Hill while helping me serve my constituents. To this day I rely on him when I need something done in D.C.”
